Reading • Word Tins Once your child can confidently read every word… • Extension 1 attempt to write. • Extension 2 write without looking • Try LOOK /READ /SAY / COVER /WRITE • Join the library
Writing • WILF • When and what happened? • Emphasis on ‘when’ vocabulary. • Tell me a story. What happened at school today? Beginning, middle, end. • Don’t worry that your child is not ‘writing’ a story yet.
Sentences…already? • When reading to your child, don’t be afraid of punctuation. • “Capital letter at the start and full stop at the end. Finger spaces in between and show it to your friend.” • Explain that sentences can end in different ways. Discuss what the punctuation means.
Maths • Number words e.g. zero, one etc.– every night. • Play games e.g. snap, memory games (examples from Halloween activities) • Opportunities for counting to 10 and beyond. • Point out numbers and number words in the environment. • Next steps…
General • Fostering independence. • Lines / uniform / responsibility for homework. • Money
