Outline….. • Definition of Stomata. • Structure of Stomata. • Function of Stomata. • Photosynthesis • How Stomata help in Photosynthesis?
What is Stomata? Stomata are the tiny pores present on the surface of leaf of plants through which plants can breathe like human beings.
Structure of Stomata • Stomata are the tiny pores present on the surface of leaves. The pores are guarded by two kidney-shaped cells known as guard cells. The inner wall of guard cell towards stomata is thicker as compared to the outer walls
Opening of stomata • When the guard cells are open , the stomata intake carbon dioxide from outside and through out the oxygen in air. Oxygen Carbondioxide
Closing of stomata • When the guard cells are close ,it help to limit the loss of water due to evaporation through sunlight.
Photosynthesis • Photosynthesis is process of preparation of food by plants by using sunlight, carbon dioxide and water .
Stomata help in photosythesis • Carbon dioxide and water used by plants for food preparation is enter through stomata in plants and waste oxygen out through stomata.
