Nice has been a traditional seaside holiday destination for decades; attracting the rich & famous to this sunny little corner of France. More recently, due to its picturesque location, countless dining options and old world glamour, its popularity as a city break destination has started to grow. Here are our top reasons to visit Nice this spring with some suggestions of how to spend your free time…
Great Outdoors Due to its Mediterranean climate, the people of Nice spend lots of time outdoors, taking in the fresh sea air. There are numerous parks and gardens in the city to visit, including the wonderful Botanical Gardens. Located near the Place Massena, the new Promenade du Paillon is lined with fabulous water fountains and is perfect for a lazy stroll.
Food & Drink It’s no surprise that we’re going to tell you that the food is superb in Nice, it is France after all! The old town is great to explore when looking for cheap eats; there are great cafés, pizza restaurants and ice cream parlours.
Culture There are numerous museums and galleries in Nice, but the one not to miss is the Matisse Museum. It’s up a fairly decent sized hill but luckily there is a regular bus that takes you right to the park that surrounds the museum. You can catch the bus from behind Galerie Lafayette on Place Massena.
