  4. What is ECC? This club is designed to promote interest in the field of early childhood education. The club also acts as an advocate for young children and their families and raises funds for the Early Childhood Education program at SCC. It is WAY more than just that. The club gives students and parents the opportunity to meet and discuss child care issues in an informal social setting, and it acts as a forum for students to network and share observations and experiences. If you are interested in pursuing career in early childhood education, this club can help round out your knowledge and education in this field.

  5. Who Can Join ECC? • Full-time SCC Students • Part-time SCC Students • Alumni • Instructors

  6. Why Join ECC? • To network with other SCC early childhood students • To participate in professional development opportunities • To participate in service projects that will benefit children and families • To develop advocacy skills • To earn an end-of-year certificate for your portfolio!!!

  7. When Can I Join ECC? You may join the club anytime of the year. We encourage you to Join at the beginning of the fall semester. Event planning begins early and we want your input. Your membership will last until the end of the spring semester.

  8. How to Join ECC? • Fill out a membership application. Membership is FREE! • Place in the drop box in the classroom or hand directly to an officer or the club advisor, Mrs. Wright Van Dusen #217. • Attend meetings and begin to participate to earn your end-of- year certificate

ECC GOALS • Develop a sustainable, active ECC club • Offer trainings that lead to certification such as SIDS and First Aid/CPR • Provides an information website that facilitates communication among our members • Fundraise to help offset cost of fieldtrips and training and to provide scholarships to current ECC students • Provide information to our local communities on what is considered the best practice resulting in quality of care and education looks • Conduct service project that will benefit children in our local communities as well as our global community. • Collaborate with our local Sandhills-AEYC affiliate involving professional development and service projects.

Early Childhood Club… “Let our love give you roots and help you find your wings.” ~Mark Harris Typical Activities: Fall Fest- Booth, Thematic Activity and Prizes Spring Fling- Booth, Thematic Activity and Prizes Annual Fundraisers 2+ Projects for the Children of our Community (ex: Book Fair/ book donations, movie night, Storytelling “Festival”, Play Daze, Empty Stocking Fund, etc…) Graduation Breakfast Monthly or Bi-Monthly Meetings (1 hour) Club Weebly Site and Face Book Group Page = Communication Benefits: Certificate of Recognition for Portfolio… Must attend set number of meetings and participate in set number of activities throughout the year. Chance to attend the NC AEYC conference in Raleigh September 11-13th for reduced rate or possibly for FREE! Fun and friendship with classmates at lunchtime meetings…Door Prizes  EC Club T-shirts for Sale! FREE PIZZA at FIRST CLUB MEETING OF THE YEAR!! A happy heart knowing that you are involved with a passionate group of individuals who all care deeply for all CHILDREN!!!
