Creation Corrections • Tellers of creation corrections sought to answer such questions as: • Why do bad things and imperfections exist? • Why is life so hard? • Why is there evidence of cataclysmic events?
Questions to ask about Creation Corrections: • Cause of the correction? • Purpose of the correction? • Who caused it (and how)? • What saved the people? • Who was saved (chosen)? • What happens afterward? • Other features…?
Flood Narratives • Virtually every human culture has a story about a worldwide cataclysmic event. cat·a·clysm [kat-uh-kliz-uhm] Noun 1. any violent upheaval, especially one of a social or political nature. 2. Physical Geography. a sudden and violent physical action producing changes in the earth's surface. 3. an extensive flood; deluge.
Flood Narratives • Flood Stories from Around the World • “The stories below are flood stories from the world's folklore. I have included stories here if (1) they are stories; (2) they are folklore, not historical accounts or fiction by a known author; and (3) they involve a flood. […] My method for collecting these stories is simply to collect every flood story I find.”
