Racial Stereotypes • Brainstorm 4-5 racial/ethnic groups that are often stereotyped • Hang a paper with each group on the front board • In groups think of adjectives/stereotypes for each group (stereotypes can be positive or negative). These don’t need to be things you believe but things you have heard. • Write words on sticky notes and put on papers in front
Discussion • What do you notice about the stereotypes listed? • Do stereotypes apply to everyone in a group? Do they tell us anything definite about an individual? • Where have you seen these stereotypes portrayed? • How do you think stereotypes might cause someone to act unfairly toward another person?
