Laboratory hibernation plans • Impetus – potential for temporary reductions in staff levels due to illnesses from pandemic flu • Template on the web – Appendix Q of the Lab Safety Plan (http://www.dehs.umn.edu/Docs/AppQ%20Hibernation%20Plan.doc) • Ask labs to prepare plans; save to post outside door, should hibernation become necessary
Energy Conservation • It All Adds Up ($$$) • Shut down equipment when not in use (computers, lights, heaters, shakers etc.) • Lab ventilation also potential target: • Reduced air changes late nights, weekends? • Potential occupancy restrictions? • Slower evacuation / build-up of off-gassing vapors?
Self-reporting training • Go to Human Resources, Employee Self Service (http://hrss.umn.edu/) • under Self Service Actions, click on 'Training Registration/History' • in the new window, click on 'Personal Training/History’ • Log in with X500 and password • Click on ‘personal training record’ • Scroll down to bottom, click on ‘Report completed training’
Check on others’ training status • Go to ‘OneStop’, click on ‘Staff’ • Under ‘quicklinks’ click on ‘UMReports’ • Login with X500 and password • Click on ‘HR Reports’ then ‘Training History’ (or search for ‘training’) • Either enter a particular employee ID# or • Enter a college/admin unit, then follow directions • Results tabulated, can be saved in Excel
