  1. SPS halo simulation G.Cavoto & E.Laface Mar2009

  2. Parameters (at production) • betax=107.0946478 m; • betay=20.07747245 m; • normalized_emittance=1.5e-6m*rad^2; • momentum=120 GeV/c; • K3L=22.6; • dumper_feature[0]=300; /* voltage */ • dumper_feature[1]=2.4; /* length */ • dumper_feature[2]=0.142; /* distance */ • One single particle for >10^5 turns

  3. Smearing at the edge with dumper… At s just before the crystal (but crystal is at more than 6mm in x) • Same particle generated at same point • ~12000 turns • Each turn 23.055 ms Projection on x x’[mrad] Black is without dumper Red with dumper 300 mm/s Red is without dumper Black with dumper 80 mm x[m] x[m]

  4. And with octupoles x’[mrad] Black is withoutoctupoles Red with octupoles Red is withoutoctupoles Black withoctupoles x[m] x[m] • Rotation ? • Faster drift ? (emittance increases more rapidly)
