The Remeha µ-chp based on a combi boiler with stirling engine Ir. P.Gelderloos Ing. M.J.Bijkerk
Content: Technology Specifications/comparison with condensing boiler Savings, results field test Status of the project Market introduction Issues to work on
Technology The “free piston stirling engine” (FPSE)
Requirements in comparison with condensing boiler: • To compete with the condensing boiler, the µ-chp should: • be very reliable • have higher savings on costs and energy (CO2) • be applicable on the same location and in the same installation as a wall hung condensing boiler • have the same level of comfort. • have a Pay back 5 years compared to the condensing boiler (5 years after introduction)
Specifications • Dimensions 900x490x420 • Wall hung (solo/combi) • Electrical output: 1 kW • Thermal output on stirling 5 kW • Total thermal output: 28 kW • 1 to 1 replacement • Same connections as condensing combi boiler
Savings, results fieldtest Average results after one year: expected realised possible Electricity production: 2250kWh 2103kWh 2356kWh Reference gas demand : 1562m3 1562m3 1562m3 Electricity/heat ratio : 16,3% 18,9% 18,9% Savings on energy bill € 300,00 € 311,00 € 342,00 Savings CO2 746 kg 836 kg
Issues to work on (EU) • Labeling system • Standards concerning the house installation. • Smart metering • Fair export tariff • Grants for the end user to be available in the first 4 to 5 years
