Parallel Activities • NOAA & JMA agreed to use National Research and Education Network (NREN)/Internet2 to transmit the full 16 spectral channels from H-8 to the NSOF ESPC for further distribution to users • Formal data requirements (e.g., data formats, level 2 products) not established • Direct Readout Availability • Following commissioning of Himawari-8, MTSAT-2 HRIT data will be available via DRO till Himawari-9 commissioning, 2017 • NESDIS will reformat 3 channels to H8/9 LRIT imagery and disseminate it via GOES-West DRO • Himawari-8 (5 channels equivalent to MTSAT-2 at 10 min frequency) will be rebroadcast via a JMA supplied COMSAT • Data flow from NSOF to all NWS users (Pacific Region, Alaska Region, National Centers) addressed by the NOAA Integrated Dissemination Program (PM, Luis Cano) and subproject NWS Ground Readiness Project (PM, Brian Gockel) • Logical DoD data flow which potentially could connect to NWS networks, needs to be addressed through GRP
