  1. CFES PM 2012 CFES Activities: How to Prepare a Bid

  2. General Structure • Your presentation should include an introduction to: • Your EngSoc • What school are you from? • The City • Why should we go there? • The Venue • Where will we stay?

  3. Important Information • Be sure to include logistical information: • Names and positions of the organizers • Include pictures • Outline of the schedule • Arrival and departures times • Forecasted budget • Is it feasible, and what are your sources of income?

  4. What Makes Your School so Unique? Express the uniqueness of your EngSoc/City/Venue What separates it from the rest?

  5. General Tips • Presentation should be translated • EN and FR on the same slide or use dual projectors • Have the translations checked • Keep the presentation simple • Ex. We don’t need to know that the venue has a sauna • Use a classy and formal template • Eye-catching, but professional

  6. Suggestions • Be prepared to answer more in depth questions • What would you want to know as a delegate? • Try to avoid focusing on social events • Yes, they’re important, but they’re not the point of the event

  7. The BIG Question • Do/will you have support from your dean/faculty? • This question will most definitely be asked • Ask your dean ahead of time • Make sure you have a solid answer for this question

  8. Last, but certainly not least • Summarize your presentation • Quick points that you want your audience to remember • Leave time for questions • You can guarantee there will be some!

  9. Examples • Dalhousie’s 2011 Bid for CFES PM • UBC’s 2012 Bid for CFES CEC • Waterloo’s 2013 Bid for CFES Congress • Carleton’s 2013 Bid for CFES CEC
