Future Ready Core • English – 4 Credits • Math – 4 Credits including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and 1 math in which Algebra II is pre-requisite • Science – 3 Credits • **Social Studies – See individual slides • Health/PE – 1 credit • 6 Electives – 2 w/in CTE, Arts Ed, Foreign Language. ►4 of your elective credits should be in a concentration area –

Math…it all adds to your success! • Geometry • Algebra II • Advanced Functions • Pre-Calculus • Honors Geometry • Honors Algebra II • Pre-Calculus • AP Calculus Foundations of Algebra in Fall of 9th Grade to help some students – NOT a math credit Algebra I Geometry Algebra II Advanced Functions

  5. Science…It’s elemental • NOTES: • While only 3 science credits are required, some students will choose to take more. Some students choose to “double up” and take Biology and Chemistry in 10th grade in order to make their 11th and 12th grade schedules available for as many honors science courses as offered. • Chemistry is not required for graduation, but many college programs, even at the 2-year level, may require Chemistry. Check college websites!! Earth and Environmental Science Biology Physical Science OR Chemistry

  6. Social Studies – requirement for current 10th/11th/12th Grade Students: • World History • Civics • U.S. History

  7. Social Studies – requirement for First-Time 9th Grade Students and Beyond: • World History • American History I • American History II • Civics Students taking AP US History will follow a bit different path, but still complete 4 social studies credits

  8. Health and PE One credit of Health and PE required, most often completed in 9th grade

  9. Concentration Areas A concentration could be in one of several specialized areas. These include: Career & Technical Education Arts Education ROTC Academic

  10. Career and Technical Education A concentration of classes within CTE would include 4 courses within a Cluster, with one being a 2nd level course.

Resources Computer Applications I Animal Science I Equine Science I Equine Science II Information Technology Introduction to T & I Foundations in Technology Computer Engineering 1 Computer Engineering 2 Hospitality & Tourism Teen Living MSITA Sports & Entertainment Mkt. I Sports & Entertainment Mkt. II These are just 3 of the many CTE sequences available at PHS!

  12. Arts Education • A concentration of classes within Arts would include courses from any combination of: • Art (Art 1, 2, 3, 4, Honors) • Chorus (Mixed Chorus 1, 2, Orion, Bach to Broadway) • Band (Band 1, 2, 3, 4, Honors, Percussion, Music Specialization) • Drama (Drama 1, 2) • as long as one course is a level II course

  14. ROTC A concentration of classes within ROTC would include 4 courses in an ROTC sequence with at least one level II course

  16. Academic A concentration of classes within Academics would include courses in any combination from Honors, AP, Foreign Language that are in addition to those fulfilling core requirements

II as prerequisite • 3 Science (Chemistry, Bio, and an Earth/Environmental Science course • 3 Social Studies (World History, Civics, US History) • 4 Elective credits constituting a concentration recommended from one of the following: CTE, JROTC, Arts, Academic • 3.5 Unweighted GPA • 2 Languages (2 credits of the same) • 3 Higher level courses taken during junior and/or senior years which carry 5 or 6 quality points, such as AP, Advanced CTE/CTE credentialing courses, online course, other honors or above designated courses
