  1. The Refraction of Light By: Marc Hnatyshin and Zach Lafleur (Just act interested so Mrs. Barton gives us an A. We’ll settle for an A-)

  2. Let’s start off with a simple question. What colour is the sky during the day?

  3. The Nature of light • Light is made out of photons. Photons are weightless packets of energy. • Light is a constant and travels at approximately 300 000 km/s • Light it is able to exceed this speed. However it is able to slow down. • The only way to do so is through refraction. • What is refraction?

  4. Refraction • Reflection is when light bounces off a reflective surface. • Refraction is when light bends due to a change in medium. • A medium is a substance in which waves (light or sound) can travel in.

  5. Why does light slow down? • Some materials are more dense then others. This goes the same for mediums. • Is it easier to run in air or to run in water? • Light reacts the exact same way. Light slows down when entering a denser medium. • However, it speeds right back up the moment it is out?
