  2. Current Context • Strong disconnect between education & student’s use of technology in lives • Internet use near 100% as low as age 8. • Students use media 6.5 hrs/day • Students desire educational use, but few have it. • Technology is changing students and society

Student Technology Literacy • Gap between what students learn and skills needed for future careers • Core academic content as defined in the past is not sufficient in global economy • Students lack technological knowledge for postsecondary study & technical training • Ethical, accurate, insightful use needed for economics & citizenship in modern society
