  3. Great Deal Misinformation • Word “Angel” does not always refer to heavenly creature • The devil has angels –Matthew 25:41 • Living humans sometimes called angels – Revelation 2:1 • Here it refers either to preachers or elders of the church in Ephsus

  4. ANGELS ARE A SPECIAL CLASS OF CREATED BEINGS • Angels not eternal beings – time of their creation unknown • Made by God – Hebrews 1:7; Psalm 148:2-6 • Angels present at creation of the world – Job 38:6,7

  5. Angels Often Appear Like Humans • Sometimes frightening in appearance – Daniel 10:4-10 • In Sodom – Genesis 19:1,2 • Some have entertained angels without knowing – Hebrews 13:2 • Some human eyes had to be opened to see them – 2 Kings 6:14-17

Angels Do Not Know Everything • Matthew 24:36 • 1 Peter 1:12 • There are Ranks of Angels • Organized into Legions – Matthew 26:53 • Michael called “archangel” in Jude 9 • Great Prince / Chief Prince – Daniel 10:13; 12:1 • Gabriel appeared to Daniel, Zacharias and Mary – Daniel 8:16; 9:21; Luke 1:19,26

Angels And Their Work • Escort the righteous dead to paradise – Luke 16:22 • Ministering spirits to those who are heirs of salvation – Hebrews 1:14 • Released Peter – Acts 12:7ff • Encouraged Paul during storm – Acts 27:23,24 • “Guardian angels” not found in scripture – Matthew 18:10; Acts 12:15 • They act consistent with the teaching of Scripture – never contradict
