WHAT IS REDS? (Resolving Employment Disputes Swiftly) • REDS is an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) process used to resolve workplace issues or concerns. • ADR avoids or takes the place of traditional grievance procedures, EEO complaints, and other types of formal litigation.

STRICOM's REDSMETHOD MEDIATION • Mediation is a “hands on” method where the parties can directly settle the conflict with the help of a neutral mediator. • The Mediator assists both parties in reaching a mutually agreeable solution. • The resolution is reduced to writing and is binding.
THE REDS MEDIATION PROCESS (1) Employee or supervisor raises an issue or problem and contacts the REDS POC or REDS Team member. (2) The REDS Team reviews issue(s) and makes decision to offer REDS. (3) REDS POC notifies the employee and the supervisor of REDS offer.
THE REDS MEDIATION PROCESS • (4) If REDS is offered, POC provides both parties a mediation agreement that states the parties agree to resolve the issue(s) in good faith and by full and open communication. • (5) Participants should come to the mediation prepared to work hard to negotiate a resolution or settlement.
How DoesMEDIATIONWork? • Parties sit at a table with the mediator. • Each side explains the situation without interruption from the other side. • Parties discuss the issues with the help of the mediator. • The mediator helps both parties to resolve issues. • Settlement agreement is written and signed.
SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT • The purpose of the mediation is to reach a SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT. • The settlement is binding. • The case is settled.
WHAT HAPPENS IF REDS FAILS? • Parties retain all traditional rights. • The case continues through regular procedural channels. • The parties may elect to use the REDS process more than once to settle.
