  3. What is a noun and an adjective?

  4. Food Frisbee. • Aim of the game: • Throw the frisbee to a fellow groover. • Where the pad of the right thumb lands, you have to name the word. For example, if your thumb lands on ‘adjective’ name an adjective: beautiful. • PLEASE KEEP CASUALTIES TO A MINIMUM!

  5. Aims • To teach the basic grammar words of the noun and adjective, and give learners a basic understanding of these words and how they’re used.

  6. You have to learn to walk before you can boogie. • (Noun(informal),a dance to pop or rock music)

  7. Noun Match Game • How to play the game: • Match each noun with its description and example. • E.g. • Noun: Description: Example.

  8. What is a noun? • There are four types of noun: • Common: an object you can see or touch, e.g. pen, table, car. • Abstract: thoughts, ideas, qualities or emotion, e.g. peace, anger, truth. • Collective: one word indicating a collection of people or objects, e.g. group, herd, queue.

  9. Proper: an individual name; a place a person or an object, e.g. Birmingham, Jane, Tower of London.

  10. What is an adjective? • An adjective (underlined) is a describing word. It tells us what a noun is like: • Oldbook, • Sensiblechild, • Smellysocks.

  11. Describe a noun game. • Aim of the game: • Individually, write down as many adjectives you can think of, in 3 minutes, to describe a peacock.

  12. Describe a Peacock (using adjectives only).

  13. Describe a Peacock (using adjectives only). Feathery, Bright, Colourful, Blue, Attractive, Dominant, Noisy, Beautiful, Proud, Shiny.
