Linguistic Intelligence- Option two By: Anna Kim 7A Mr. Schwagler’s English Class
A Tale about Friends… • “Flowers need sunshine, violets need dew, all angels in heaven know I need you. Years may fly, tears may dry, but my friendship with you will never die.”- Sophie Swambrick • Hidden Meaning: Although the meaning is rather straightforward and obvious, the “hidden” meaning is telling us how precious friends are and true friendship will last forever. • Theme/Mood: The theme is probably about friendship but the mood of this poem was very touching. They used a nice comparison with flowers (nature) and friendship.
A Tale about Siblings… • “A sister is someone who loves you from the heart, no matter how much you argue you cannot be drawn apart. She is a joy that cannot be taken away, once she enters your life, she is there to stay.”- Shiv Sharma • Hidden Meaning: Most of you probably have a sibling. I do, so I know how it feels like to have one… however, even though I fight with her, my heart always turns back to say sorry. I guess, most of what I said before was the hidden meaning that even though you may fight with your siblings, you will always love him/her. • Themes/Mood: The theme is probably about the special bond you and your sibling holds. There isn’t a particular mood for this poem, though.
A Tale about a Mother… • “You brought me my first toy, my first bike and baseball glove. You filled my heart with joy, and you filled my life with love. You taught me how to count, and how to say my A, B, C's, how to say "Your Welcome”, "Thank You" and "Pretty Please.”-Kelly Joe • Hidden Meaning: I think the author was trying to tell the audience, how much she loved her mother and how grateful she was because her mom taught her how to say “Your Welcome,” “Thank You,” and such. • Themes/Moods: I think the theme of this poem was love to mothers. I think the mood of this poem was rather sweet because, most people have a mother and had a similar experience with their mother as well.
