  1. Starter: Analyze the Pitcures B C A Directions: Identify which of Newton’s laws is represented by the pictures below.

  2. Momentum, Weight, Gravity Day 25

  3. Explain: Momentum Animations http://www.physics.mun.ca/~jjerrett/momentum/momentum.html

  4. Explore: Momentum • A car and a truck are traveling at the same speed. Which has more momentum? Why?

  5. Explore: Mini-Investigation Momentum Data Table Number of Marbles What happened? One Marble Two Marble Three Marble Four Marble

  6. Explain: Science 360 http://science360.gov/obj/video/1a6a8602-2e8b-4eab-93e2-b6d5a9e697ed/force-impulse-collisions

  7. Practice problems KWFL Chart: Momentum Directions: On the left-side of your notebook, do a KWFL chart for the following problems. You can work with each other as long as you have your own problems. I will check answers. 1. What is the momentum of a 3000 kg truck going 55 m/s? 2. What is the momentum of a 99 kg boulder going 30 m/s? 3. What is the momentum of a 1000 kg car going 25 m/s? 4. What is the momentum of a 500 kg object going 70 m/s?

  8. Practice Problems: Force • If the mass of a helicopter is 4500 kg and the net force on it is 18000 N, what is the helicopter’s acceleration? • What is the net force on a dragster with a mass of 900 kg if its acceleration is 32 m/s2? • A car is being pulled by a tow truck. What is the car’s mass if the net force on the car is 3000 N and it has an acceleration of 2 m/s2? • You push a friend on a sled. Your friend and the sled together have a mass of 70 kg. If the net force on the sled is 35 N, what is the sled’s acceleration?

  9. Explore: Science 360 http://science360.gov/obj/video/89c70f56-8885-46a0-9997-82ebfa025127/science-winter-olympics-science-friction

  10. Exit Slip-Exploring: Friction Directions: On the left-side of you notebook, Write the following statements and answer the question. Then classify them as static friction (no movement), sliding, rolling, or fluid. • Rub your hands together. Describe what happens to your hands. Why? • Push a book across the table. Why does it stop? • When you roll a ball across the floor, why does it stop? • When you swim, what does the water do? (Help you or hold you back)
