Setting up your grade graph(in pencil) • Draw the X & Y axis. • Label X axis: Weeks • Label Y axis: Grade in % • Start with 0 and go up by 1 week until you reach 20 • Start with 0 and go up by 10% until you reach 100% • Draw a solid line across your graph at 60%. Label this the failure line. • Draw a dashed line across your graph at your goal % for the semester. Label this your goal line. • Title your graph: My 1st Semester Grade Over Time • Glue your graph to front inside cover of your composition book.
Grade Graphs • You are required to check your grade at least once a week and graph it. • I will check your grade graph every Friday to make sure you plotted your grade for that week.
Setting Up Your Binder • Make 4 dividers. Label them in the following order: • Homework • Classwork • Tests/Quizes • Projects
Bell-ringer • Using the glue stick, glue the Unit 1 Chap 2 handout on the next blank page in your COMPOSITION BOOK
Tuesday September 20, 2011 OBJECTIVES: • Describe how the growth of the human population has changed throughout history and the historical events that caused those changes AGENDA: • Watch distribution of humans video • Pass out textbooks • Answer discussion questions
Independent Work Directions • Watch video the first time without writing anything down. Pay particular attention to the changes in human population. • Watch video the second time and complete the handout WHILE watching the video.
Pair Share Directions • With your table partner answer the discussion questions on p34 of your textbook on looseleaf. • Be ready to discuss your answers.
Textbooks • Check your textbook to make sure you have a barcode on the inside front cover. This barcode is matched to your ID. • Do not remove this barcode. Wednesday September 21, 2011 OBJECTIVES: • Use data to make a line graph of the world’s population and make predictions from your graph AGENDA: • Construct line graph • Answer questions about your graph • Discuss questions • Summary
Independent Work Instructions • Read p36 • Use the data table on p37 to make a line graph on your handout (10 minutes)
Pair/Share Directions • Answer the Analysis questions on the back of your handout (12 minutes) • Be ready to discuss!
Summary Claim: Is the world’s population increasing at the same rate? (1 sentence) Evidence: Provide some evidence from your graph to support your claim. (2-3 sentences)
Bell-ringer(handout) • Complete Populations Pyramids Data Representation worksheet (8 minutes). Answer the questions on handout about the graph on the opposite side.
Thursday Sept 22, 2011 OBJECTIVES: • Use population pyramids to predict future population growth AGENDA: • Review bell ringer • Analyze population pyramids HOMEWORK: • Answer Discussion questions p40-41 • Choose science topic
Pair Share Directions • Read Procedure steps 1-2 on p38 • Answer the Stop & Think questions on p38 in your composition book • Read Procedure steps 3 & 4 on p39. • Answer the Stop & Think questions on p40. • Read Procedure step 5 p40. • Answer Discussion Questions 1-7 p40 -41.
