  3. Regulars • The tú affirmative command is formed by using the tú present tense form of the verb minus the “s.”Remember: This is how to tell someone you are familiar with how to DO something. Let’s practice!

  5. Affirmative Tú commands- Irregulars “Vin Diesel has ten weapons.” Say it with a German accent and it sounds like this: Ven Come here! (venir) Di Say/Tell (it)! (decir) Sal Leave! (salir) Haz Do (it)! (hacer) Ten Have (care)! (tener) Ve Go! (ir) Pon Put (it)! (poner) Sé Be (good)! (ser)

  9. II. Affirmative Commands & Pronouns Next, decide what direct object pronoun will replace the direct object noun. Finally, attach the pronoun to the end of command. First, find the Direct Object in each sentence: • 1. Escribe la tarea. • 2. Come lasverduras. • 3. Lee el libro. • 4. Escucha a la profesora. 1. Escríbela la 2. Cómelas las 3. Léelo lo 4. Escúchala la “Count back three, that’s where you put me.” –the accent mark

  11. Negative Tú Commands ¡No comas el pastel! ¡No tires la comida! ¡No corras en la cafetería! ¡No uses el teléfono! Hmmm… Can you figure out the rule for forming a negative tú command?

  12. Negative Tú Commands Use a negative tú command to tell someone you are familiar with NOT to do something. Example: Don’t eat the cake! Don’t throw the food! Don’t run in the cafeteria! Don’t use your cell phone! En español: ¡No comas el pastel! ¡No tires la comida! ¡No corras en la cafetería! ¡No uses el teléfono!

  13. Negative Tú Commands(Helpful rhyme) The “yo” form of the verb, Minus the “o” Flip-flop the ending And don’t forget “NO!”

  14. Negative Tú Commands Notice that -arverbs take the ending -esand that –erand –irverbs take the ending-as. That’s because you “flip-flop” the ending.

  15. Ejemplos… The “yo” form of the verb, Minus the “o” Flip-flop the ending And don’t forget “NO!” Comer No com o as An “er” verb would usually en in “es” in the tú form, but when you flip-flop the ending you use the “ar” ending instead, “as.”

  16. Los Irregulares ser— no seas ir— no vayas dar— no des estar— no estés Only four words are irregular in the negative tú command form, and you can probably guess which ones: Hint: Write these words on the SIDE of your paper!

  17. Spelling Changes Remember to keep the sound of the original word. What other letter combinations do you think will have a spelling change? --gu --gar --car --zar Ejemplo: jugar Yo form: jueg --qu o Minus the “o”: --c ues Flip-flop ending: es ¡No juegues! Don’t forget “No”: Do you remember this letter combination? What do we need to add??? Remember? We saw this same spelling change in the preterite.

  22. Mandatos y Pronombres Negative commands are the OPPOSITE of affirmative commands when it comes to pronouns—the pronouns run to the front of the verb, just like in a normal sentence. Example: No piques el tomate. No lo piques. No lapongasaquí. No pongas la mochilaaquí. No los comas. No comas los pasteles.
