CKH – RED, WHITE AND BLUE • The Red, White & Blue Program is a FUN program designed for the beginning player ages 8 years old and under. • This USA Hockey sponsored program uses a nationally developed curriculum to teach your players the basic skills needed to play and enjoy hockey. • The Cross Ice Program is meant to increase skills by playing cross ice rather than on a full ice surface. • There are four major tenants of the Red, White and Blue program: • More Puck Time • Age-Appropriate Training • Cost Savings • Increased competition

CKH – RED, WHITE AND BLUE • USA Hockey strongly recommends participation in the Red, White and Blue Program • The NY State Amateur Hockey Association Mandates full compliance with Red, White and Blue 2012/13 season for 8U. • NYSAHA Mandates Mite A to continue “as is” for 2011/12 season. • NYSAHA Mandates Mite B to conform to Red, White and Blue for 2011/12 Season. • There are two options for the traditional Mite B player • Empire League • CKH “In House” League
CKH – RED, WHITE AND BLUE • Empire Red, White and Blue Program • Implements all aspects of the Red, White and Blue • Maintains competition between existing members (House League) • Cross Ice Practice formats • Game Formats Include • 5 v 5 or 4 v 4 - Cross Ice • 4 or 6 teams (2 or 3 games) compete at the same time • Smaller goals, (maybe no goalies) • No Score • 2 Minute buzzer for changes • Beginning face off only • 1 Referee to oversee the game • No penalties, penalty shot for major infractions • Travel to other member sites for games
CKH – RED, WHITE AND BLUE • CKH – “In-House” - Red, White and Blue Program • Implements intent of the Red, White and Blue • Creates competition between several (6-7) CKH teams • Cross Ice Practice formats • Game Formats Include • 4 v 4 - Cross Ice • 4 teams (2 games) compete at the same time • Full Size goals with goalies • Score is kept • 2 Minute buzzer for changes • Beginning face off only • Coaches oversee the game • No penalties
CKH – RED, WHITE AND BLUE • CKH - Red, White and Blue Program • Advantages of the “In House” concept • No Travel to other member sites for games….(like Batavia, Lakeshore, etc…) • Lower cost due to multiple teams sharing ice costs • Consistent game and practice schedule….will try and create set game times on the weekend • Friendly rivalry within Canandaigua Area • NHL type team names • Ability to schedule Away (or host) jamborees and festivals • Lower number of players equals more ice time

CKH – RED, WHITE AND BLUE • CKH - Red, White and Blue Program • Demographics • Approximately 140, 8U players for 2011/12 • Approximately 25, 8 year olds for 2011/12 • CKH intent is to place qualified 7&8 year olds on a Mite A team. There may be more than one A team. • On ice evaluations as well as prior year coach input will be used to construct the Mite A and Red, White and Blue teams. • Cost will be approximately 2/3 of current Mite program. • Beginner program will continue as is. Players graduating from that program enter the Red, White and Blue Program.
