Revision Chapter 1 – Jonah is called by God to go to Nineveh Modern day Nineveh would be in Mosul (Iraq) God pursues him as he runs Chapter 2 - Jonah sinks to the very bottom of the sea where the roots of the mountains find their origin

They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth. When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.” Dust is a symbol of origin

God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.” Jude 1: 21-23“Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.”
