  2. Griggs International Academy • Chosen by the NAD to facilitate and coordinate DE across the division • Will review and monitor DE programs though the NAD and local unions will approve them • Will ensure each student receives a quality education with spiritual, social and emotional components

  3. Consortium of Adventist Distance Education—CADE • Protocol to add any full time grades 5-12 via distance education • Approval to enter portal by NAD/TDEC –application via website • Go through NAD approved vendors on portal

CADE Application Process • School admin files application/local board/conference K-12 – signed by local board and conference K-12 • send application to NAD/TDEC on or before July 1 one year before opening • if approved (response within 30 days) • Griggs University & International Academy • Local school board—if approved then step 3 • Conference K-12—if approved then step 4 • UBOE –works with Griggs toapprove • UBOE –fall meeting—annual approval • UDOEC, as enabled by NAD K-12 meeting in December • NADOE final approval • Union Office would carry-out the follow through, for example, with junior academies • Current sites would be grandfathered in

CADE Approval for DE Portal • NAD Evaluation—in good standing • Regional Accreditation (Middle States, Advanced ED) • Certified teachers • Union curriculum/administration council course approval • Instructors are employees of their respective programs • Course of excellence vetted through peer review • Technology described but not evaluated

  6. Adventist Distance Education—ADE • Vendors • British Columbia and Alberta – only available within provinces • Griggs University & International Academy • FLA • AAA • others ONLY with approval via the vetting process • Individual classes • Credit Recovery • Gifted • Dual Credit

ADE Vetting Process • Any class from an approved vendor is automatically approved • Teachers who want to teach/create a DE class outside of a particular school must be affiliated with a school already inside the portal • Any courses taught (site to site) within aconference through DE must be evaluated using the online rubric with a report of the program made to the local union office of education. • Once courses leave the conference they must get NAD approval through the vendor vetting process • For the addition of any full DE grades 5-12, application must be made using the same template used for senior academy status

Portal Vendor Approval • NAD Evaluation—in good standing with AAA • Regional accreditation—in good standing • All teachers Adventist and certified • Union curriculum/administration council course approval—union curriculum audit and yearly change form • Rubric driven vendor evaluation • Instructional design • Communication/interaction/collaboration • Student assessment/evaluation • Learners’ support/resources • Griggs, AAA and Forest Lake DL are grandfathered in to be preferred vendors • Any classes offered independently, outside from a full program, must be evaluated by the rubric • Vendors approved to provide full curriculum must be SDA • Curriculum must be owned by the delivering organization

Data Rollup • Must and will be done correctly • A large percentage of existing data is corrupt • Teacher and student info is being cleaned-up • ID number interface is being revised for easier use • There is a need to educate all users about the philosophy and the process • Directors meet with superintendents and academy principals • Superintendents and academy principals will disseminate within the conference

  12. iNOW,Renweb, and Others • Voted to recommend to the directors to end support of Hunter by July 2014 • Continue support and use of Small School Minder • Schools may want to consider Renweb • Data rollup protocols have been setup • Are anxious for SDA schools • PowerSchool is another option • Voted to start conversation • Data rollup
