Your Industry Codes • NAICS = North American Industry Classification System. • Source: Bureau of the Census. • Purpose: to use a # to classify an industry. • Google “NAICS codes” • Make sure you click on the Census.gov site. • SIC codes are an earlier version. • SIC codes have the same purpose. • SIC codes are still used. That’s why you need to know both codes. • Google “SIC codes” & click on the OSHA.gov site.
