Salt Lake Community College Humanities Department Fine Arts and Lectures Student Research Project SLCC, Redwood Campus, March 23 – April 4 ANTHROPOLOGY AT PRESENT Student Research Project • Anthropology at Present is a research project of students from SLCC (ANT 1010 and ANT 1030). It attempts to celebrate anthropology as one of the newest and at the same time most significant scientific, humanities and educational disciplines in which the USA have leading position. The project includes: • Pre-event Poster-exhibit“Anthropology at present” the objectives of which are to introduce you to the student project, as well as to the study of cultural anthropology and archaeology in SLCC and in the University of Utah, SL, and to the special guest-lectures of two Bulgarian scholars (April 4, 2005). The exhibit is a collaborative project of students from SLCC and University of Utah, SL. • Poster-exhibit “Studying Cultural Anthropology and Archaeology” including research projects of students from SLCC (ANT 1010 and ANT 1030) and from the Department of Anthropology, UU (Fall 2004 and Spring 2005 semesters). It was opened in February 2005 in PC 8 Room 102. On March 11 there was a one-day exhibit at the Department of Anthropology, University of Utah, and continues in PC 8 Room 102, Redwood Campus. On April 4 (10.00 AM – 1.00 PM) it will culminate with the student poster-presentations in the Student Event Center. • Student Anthropology Day – 4 April, 2005 (9.00AM-1.00PM). PC 8 and Student Event Center, Redwood Campus. In the program: • Guest-lecture of Dr. Krum Bacvarov (Bulgaria). (American Academic Collaborative Grant “Old Europe” co-sponsored by SLCC Humanities Department and Fine Arts and Lectures ). PC 8 Room 102, Redwood Campus. 9:00AM-9.50AM • A Simulation Model of Archaeology Field School (ANT 1030) • Contest“Learn in Your Head. Cultural Anthropology.” Prize -$100.00 sponsored by Eric Taylor (former ANT 1010 student in SLCC) • Slide presentation of Professor Vassil Nikolov, Hab. Dr.(Bulgaria) (American Academic Collaborative Grant “Old Europe”, co-sponsored by SLCC Humanities Department and Fine Arts and Lectures ). Student Event Center, 12:00PM –12:50PM. • and surprises like free snacks with coupons, Bulgarian souvenirs and art, etc.
