English for SocialWorkers Suggested topics include , but are not limited to: Social workers in criminal justice system Family crises and the role of social workers Cases concerning Croatia before the ECHR Social work as a profession and social work practice Types of clients: older people, children, disabled persons, homeless persons Disadvantaged groups in society: ethnic minorities, the Roma, the poor, the homeless

Socialworkersin Croatia andothercountries (education, employment, position, changes) • Disabled people (types of disability, care for the disabled, position of disabled persons in Croatia) • Older People (gerontology, care for the elderly, position of older people in Croatia) • Child Welfare (legal regulation, child welfare in Croatia, SOS Lekenik and other programs, adoption, foster care, care for children with special needs, juvenile delinquency)

  14. Types of exercises • Translate phrases from English to Croatian and vice versa • Match the term with its definition/synonym • Fill in the gaps • Complete the statements • Translation of a paragraph from the text from English to Croatian
