Homeland Security R&D Center • The aim of the Center is to offer in one same place a critical mass of knowledge in the security-related fields in order to provide comprehensive solutions by developing new products and technologies for Homeland Security applications. • The Center includes more than 20 high skilled scientists and engineers specializing in the different research fields Homeland Security R&D Center
The goal : defending critical infrastructure The Center's primary focuses include: • Critical infrastructure defense • Detection of concealed weapons and explosives • Port security • Border monitoring • Water and air pollution detection • Personal identification • Detection of under ground tunnels Homeland Security R&D Center
The research groups are: Electromagnetic radiation group - Visible and IR optics, MM-wave and THz imaging and detection, Spectroscopy Robotics and mechatronics: developed an autonomous mobile platform for motion in tunnels and pipes • Motion planning and navigation of intelligent vehicles Materials research group - Plastics and polymers , Metal materials , Chemicals , Interaction of EM radiation with matter Homeland Security R&D Center
