Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit;..Luke 2:5 to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to be delivered. 7 And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

  13. Most Hebrew words have a much broader range of legitimate translation than the Greek words which are more specific. The tendency in most modern translations is to give greater weight to the Hebrew text of the OT than to the Greek Septuagint.

  14. The rabbis, outgrowth of the Pharisees, canonized out the Apocrypha, and used the Hebrew text of the O.T. The early church used the Greek text of the O.T. Septuagint which included the Apocrypha (translated from Hebrew about 200 BC).
