EDUCATIONAL MEASURES TO HELP THE DISADVANTAGED**TURKEY** MEASURES TAKEN BY THE GOVERNMENT, LOCAL GOVERNING BODIES AND NGOs: Primary and secondary schools Funding for disadvantaged students (mainly girls in the Eastern parts of the country) and their families, special funding through Governmental exams (DPY) for successful disadvantaged students Encouragement to families to send their children at school age to school Free transportation for students at remote areas Free accommodation for students at remote areas Social and psychological support for disadvantaged students and their families mainly provided by the guidance counselors at schools in coordination with the establishments founded by the ministry and local governing bodies. Legal measures for the prevention of early marriage and providing attendance to school Providing free school books for all students Report by the Ministry of Education with the subject of “Access and Continuity to Education” “Access of Students Under Risk to High Quality Education Workshop” (18-19 February 2011)

FOR ADULT LEARNERS • Educational and vocational courses by local establishments and state schools • Funding for private courses • Support in job access • Free Child Care for parents of young children • Special funding for Disadvantaged Women • Support by the NGOs through vocational courses and volunteer teachers • Governmental support for agricultural workers • Apprenticeship Training Centers
