  2. As the years go by, we forget what it was like as a kid. Long days of play with friends give way to work and responsibilities. To recapture those youthful days, seniors can choose a day or more to set aside one day a month – or one day a week – to experience the carefree activities theyyou enjoyed as a child.

  3. Here are some ideas, home care Colorado Springs experts suggest seniors, that may trigger the thoughts of childhood activities that they loved: 1. Splash in the pool. Invite a friend who knows how to relax to the local pool and do nothing except chat and play with the pool toys. • 2. Invite a friend to have a picnic on a blanket in the back yard.  3. Play a game that they loved as a kid. Clue, checkers, and Go Fish are three that were well loved.

  4. 4. Go to the children's section of the library. Take out books about their favorite animals.  • 5. Attend the storytime hour at the library. Sit with the kids and enjoy being read to. 6. Go to a museum. Afterwards, tell someone about something that they learned. 7. Buy a big box of crayons and a coloring book. Color while they watch a funny movie.

  5. 8. Buy some acrylic painting supplies, including a canvas. Create an abstract painting, using only their favorite colors. 9. Finger paint a flower. 10. Explore the woods. Find something they never noticed before. • 11. Eat the meal that was their favorite as a kid.

  6. 12. Listen to a ghost story after they are in bed. 13. Listen to a baseball game on the radio (or computer). • 14. Write a poem about the joys of childhood. 15. Visit the zoo or a friend's farm animals.

  7. 16. Read a Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew mystery novel. • 17. Try playing a musical instrument. Take a music lesson. 18. Learn three silly jokes and tell them to friends. 19. Go to a high school baseball game.

  8. 20. Try a food they never ate before. • 21. Cut pictures out of old magazines. 22. Start a collection of rocks, stamps or other things that fit into a box. 23. Make and bury a time capsule.

  9. 24. Put a puzzle together on a rainy day. • 25. Have cereal for dinner. 26. Swing on the swing in the playground. 27. Make a snowman, play in the leaves or make a sand castle.

  10. 28. Buy a toy box and fill it with fun things. • 29. Take a nap (siesta) after lunch. If unable sleep, listen to a kid's story. 30. Buy a new notebook and write a short story for a child. These are just some of the things your aging loved one can do to feel young. Know Ask them what did they love to do as a child and help revisit those simpler times once in awhile and recapture the wonder of play.
