Is God Impossible? • God is loving and God is wrathful. • God is vengeful and God is graceful. • The charge • If God is a maximally perfect being then imperfections cannot obtain. • Contradictions are imperfections. • God’s attributes and descriptions are contradictory. • Therefore, God is not maximally perfect (and thus, by definition, cannot exist).

  6. What About Jonah? • Jonah was written 150-200 years earlier than Nahum wrote his prophetic warning. • Stark contrast indicates that Nineveh's repentance was only temporary. • One act of repentance doesn’t always last permanently. Nineveh repented and God spared them. If Nineveh had still been repentant they would not have been subject of God’s wrath.

  7. We Are the Bride • This is a stumbling block for men. • To be the bride of Christ has nothing to do with femininity but union. • When it comes to divine wrath, consider it protection.

  8. Evangelism • We can’t always assume we’re always on the right side of God’s wrath by default. Ps. 5.5 • Natural recognition • Being a recipient of divine wrath indicates reprobation

  9. We Get What We Want • In the end, God gives us what we really want. • For the saved, He gives eternal union. • For the damned, He gives eternal separation. • For those who are subject to God’s wrath, they choose eternal separation from God. (This also makes for a sound doctrine of hell).

  10. Praise God for Wrath • Praise God for His protection. • Praise God for His justice. • Wrath, jealousy, and vengeance is all out of love. • Gain a new perspective of God • Imagine the end of this world…
