HSU: Supporting Health Professionals & Allied Health Workers • Do you work for public health, aged care, disability service or ambulance service in NSW? If you do, you could become a part of the Health Services Union or HSU. HSU is a group that works to safeguard the rights of health professionals, allied health workers and aged care workers.
HSU covers workers in cleaning, maintenance, administration, laboratories, food services, nuclear medicine, finance, IT and more. Most staff in private hospitals, aged care and disabilities is covered except for registered nurses. • Once a member of the HSU, you enjoy several benefits as journey Insurance, bereavement benefits, legal services, education incentives and so on. Journey Insurance covers HSU members in case they suffer a loss of income due to some accident or injury on the way to from work. Members are offered a compensation of $ up to 1500 per week or 85% of their weekly wages.
Under bereavement benefit, the next kin of the deceased gets a monetary support of $10,000. HSU members are also entitled to free legal advice on all issues except that related to employment.
