  4. Steps to Effective Advocacy • Identify the current issue or concern • Obtain complete information and organize • Look at the issue/concern/problem from another’s viewpoint • Make contacts • Make a plan and ask for help if you need it

Group Activity • Watkins Glen is a very busy community during race weekend, making local travel difficult. • You have been nominated by your neighbors to address the City Council to ask for policemen to direct traffic during the busiest times on race weekends. • Outline at least 5 steps you will take to prepare your presentation to City Council.
