Technical requirements for Japanese 950 MHz low power active radio systems Kiyoshi Fukui and Shigeru Fukunaga OKI Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
Overview • This showsthe technical requirements for 950MHz low power active radio systems. • This is approved by MIC committee for public comments. • Requirements different from previous one which presented in July meeting (07/789r00) are colored by red. • Supplemental explanations added by us are colored by blue. Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
General conditions (1/5) • Communication system • One-way method, simplex method, duplex method, semi-duplex method, or broadcast • Modulation system • Not specified. • Frequency band • 950.8 MHz – 955.8 MHz (5.0 MHz) • Antenna power (at antenna connector input) • 1mW or less for all unit radio channel • 10mW or less for unit radio channels from 954.2MHz to 954.8MHz • Antenna gain • Less than 3dBi. • But it can be increased unless EIRP of emitted radio signal is over than EIRP emitted when maximum power(1mW or 10mW) is provided to 3dBi antenna. Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
General conditions (2/5) • Unit radio channel • There are24 unit radio channels which center frequencies shall be located from 951.0 MHz to 955.6 MHz with 200 kHz separation. For 1mW For 10mW Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
General conditions (3/5) • Radio channel • It shall contain whole of the occupied frequency bandwidth of emitted radio signal and shall be consisted of up to 3 consecutive unit radio channels. • Requirements for system design • Cabinet • Radio equipment shall be difficult to open. But power supply module and control unit is not included in this restriction. • Carrier sense • Radio equipment shall check interference by the carrier sense before new transmission. • Career sense shall be done to all of unit radio channels including emitted signal for 128us or more. But if antenna power is more than 1mW, carrier sense time shall be 10ms or more. • Carrier sense level that is amount of received power at all of unit radio channels including emitted signal shall be -75dBm at antenna input. • If antenna power is 1mW or less and sending control specified in C c) is complied with, carrier sense is not necessary. Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
General conditions (4/5) • Requirements for system design (Cont.) • Sending control • 10ms carrier sense • Radio equipment shall stop emitting radio signal within 1sec after it started to emit. It shall wait emitting radio signal for 100msec. • But it may emit again without waiting 100msec, while it is within 1 sec after first emitting and the emitting shall be finished within this 1 sec. • 128us carrier sense • Radio equipment shall stop emitting radio signal within 100ms after it started to emit. It shall wait emitting radio signal for 100msec and amount of sending time for 1 hour shall be 360 sec or less. • But it may emit again without waiting 100msec, while it is within 100 ms after first emitting and the emitting shall be finished within this 100 ms. • No carrier sense • Radio equipment shall stop emitting radio signal within 100ms after it started to emit. It shall wait emitting radio signal for 100msec and amount of sending time for 1 hour shall be 3.6 sec or less. • But it may emit again without waiting 100msec, while it is within 100 ms after first emitting and the emitting shall be finished within this 100 ms. • Duty cycle is specified by each node not by each carrier sense mode. • Duty cycle is specified in arbitrary 1 hour period not in previous 1 hour. Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
General conditions (5/5) • Interference protection • Radio equipment shall automatically (without human operation) send or receive identification code. • The detail of ‘Identification code’ in this term is not specified. Short address of IEEE802.15.4 is OK. • Telecommunication terminal equipment that uses radio in itself • It shall have identification code which shall be 48 bits length or more. • Except for particular case it shall make decision if channel is used or not before using that channel. Only if that channel is not used, it shall use it. • This term is for the case of connection to public telecommunication networks via gateway. In this case each IEEE802.15.4 node has to have 48 bits or more of ‘Identification code’ and be identified the node connected to public telecommunication network by its ID. Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
Technical conditions (1/5) • Transmitter • Channel mask • Bandwidth: (200 x n) kHz (n is integer from 1 to 3) • Level of channel edge: 20dBc • Power of adjacent channel: less than -26dBm for 1mW case less than -18dBm for 10mW case 1mW case Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
Technical conditions (2/5) • Transmitter • Channel mask 10mW case Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
Technical conditions (3/5) • Transmitter • Frequency tolerance • Within 20 x 10-6 (But it shall not be specified if this band is applied to designated frequency band.) • Frequency tolerance means allowable error of center frequency of each radio channel. • If designated frequency band is applied, the center frequency of each radio channel is not specified. • Occupied frequency bandwidth • Less than (200 x n) kHz (n is integer from 1 to 3) • Tolerance of antenna power • Upper bound: 20%, Lower bound: -80% • This restriction is applied to intended antenna power to emit. Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
Technical conditions (4/5) • Transmitter (Cont.) • Spurious emission strength (at antenna connector input) • f <= 1000MHz -36dBm/100kHz (except for 710MHz < f <= 960MHz) • 710MHz < f <= 945MHz -55dBm/MHz • 945MHz < f <= 950MHz -55dBm/100kHz • 950MHz < f <= 956MHz -39dBm/100kHz (except for |f-fc|<= 200+100x(n-1)kHz) • 956MHz < f <= 958MHz -55dBm/100kHz • 958MHz < f <= 960MHz -58dBm/100kHz • 1GHz < f -30dBm/MHz (except for 1884.5MHz < f <= 1919.6MHz) • 1884.5MHz < f <= 1919.6MHz -55dBm/MHz • Cabinet radiation • EIRP of cabinet radiation shall be less than EIRP calculated from corresponding spurious emission strength Kiyoshi fukui, OKI
Technical conditions (5/5) • Receiver • Conducted spurious component shall be -54dBm/100kHz or less in frequency band below 1GHz (except for 710MHz-960MHz) and 950MHz-956MHz, -47dBm/MHz or less in frequency band above 1GHz (except for 1884.5MHz-1919.6MHz), or strength of spurious emission in Tab 1 or less in other frequency band.
