Adding links to Library e-resources in Moodle.
E N D
Adding links to Library e-resources in Moodle You can embed a link from most of Portage College Library’s online resources on your Moodle page that will take your students directly to the article, video or illustration you have chosen. Each of our suppliers has slightly different ways of doing that, but all methods are similar.
EBSCOTo link to an article in an EBSCO database or e-book, use the Permalink function in the right-hand toolbar. Do not use the URL in the browser bar at the very top of the page. Permalink
When you click on Permalink, the link will appear at the top of the page: Use this link
GaleWhen using a Gale database or the Gale Virtual Reference Library, click on “bookmark” in the top toolbar: Bookmark
A new screen will open displaying the link: Use this link
Films on Demand (Whole title) Use this link
Note that with Films on Demand, each film is divided into segments. There is a separate URL for each segment (Segment URL) and one for the entire film(Title URL). If you only want to show one segment, use the Segment URL. Segment URL
Credo Reference This is the only source that uses the URL in the browser bar. Use this URL
These links contains the address of our proxy server, which authenticates authorized users of our resources, i.e. our students, faculty and staff. • On any Portage College campus, this link will take you directly to your chosen resource. Off campus, the user will be asked for a username and password. Your username is in the form “firstname.lastname,” e.g. john.smith and your password is the last four digits of your ID number. This information is described on the authentication page that will appear when you are off campus. If you have any questions, contact the Library at 780 623-5650 or library@portagecollege.ca.
