Visual Impairment Early Feedback One of the children with impaired vision who has experienced nausea & headaches with ipads & laptops has now been able to enjoy reading on the kindle with enlarged text …& has been able to try more titles/genres because there are fewer limitations when using the kindle. Rebecca – Severe VI, registered blind (RNIB) and a reluctant reader. Reading improvement a) Improved Scanning b) RA 8.11 to 9.2 in six weeks Better than any previous progress in a whole term

  13. Visual Impairment Text to Speech “She used earphones at home” Visually Impaired user Y 9 girl mainstream secondary: Thought it was ‘awesome’. Read along with the voiceover and liked this as she didn’t have to concentrate as much when her eyes were tired in the evening for example. Was not keen on the synthetic voice at first but got used to it. At the moment when she reads at home her eyes hurt, even with magnifiers, so having the voiceover really helped.  She sometimes gets large print books and has an iPod for audiobooks.
