Purpose/Rationale • Sex education and Reproductive Health • Two issues that is very controversial and timely • There are various groups that hinder reproductive health and sex education • Based on the observations done during the first 3-4 sessions in the community, these primary issues were noted • Family Planning • Early engagement in sex • Teen pregnancy • Misconceptions regarding contraceptives
Objectives • To create a module on sex education and reproductive health catered for the youth • EDUCATE- the primary goal of this module is to discuss about • The BODY • Female and Male Reproductive System • Changes during adolescence • Their feelings and emotions in line with these changes • Their SEXUALITY • WAYS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES
OPEN- to be able to discuss about their body and their sexuality without any prejudice or judgment • SAFE- to be able to give them the environment where they could be open to their module trainors regarding their concerns about their body and address their issues through networking • Contact LIKHAAN for CONTRACEPTIVES or FAMILY PLANNING • Contact an NGO if there are problems regarding treatment on STDs
FGD(optional) • Objectives: • To elicit specific topics from the youth of the community • What do they want to know ? • Put these questions into the subsequent modules
Session 1: Katawanko • Discuss the anatomical changes during adolescence • Discuss the reproductive system • Relate these anatomical changes to their emotions and feelings
Session 2: Sekswalidad • Discuss about sexuality and sexual orientation • Discuss about sex and sexual practices
SESSION 3: Proteksyon • Discuss the ways and means on how to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancies or STDs • Contraceptives • Kinds • Discuss the questions they have in mind regarding the safety and effectiveness
Session 4: Mgasakit • Discuss the most common Sexually Transmitted Infections • Herpes • Gonorrhea • Chlamydia • Etc. • Discuss the signs and symptoms regarding STIs and possible effects • Discuss the invoked feelings and emotions regarding STIs • Refer them to an NGO regarding treatment options, if ever they have an infection • Create a healthy environment of acceptance and non-prejudicial outlook for those with STIs
