Gender Identity Disorders • No longer is there a separate disorder for kids, just notes in adult section • Gender identity disorder in children = pre-pubertal. Desire to be, or insistence they are, of the opposite sex. Distress about not being the opposite sex. • In adolescents, typically there is cross dressing (though not for excitement), and preoccupation with getting rid of primary and secondary sex characteristics
