Observation Lab Jocelyn Bykowski
Barnes and Noble -productive feel to it -love the color scheme
Café….very studious… -hotspot of the store -many customers only here to read, study, and drink coffee -this is a big part of their image as a company
Empty children section -many impulse items at the cash register -I wanted to stay in this section forever
Boston Store -little more smelly due to fragrance section -this makes me feel nervous they can be expensive or reasonable depending on the day
Many mothers scouting out spring and summer clothing -many mothers were out shopping, comparing clothing to other moms and asking questions -they had the tendency to go to the modest looking clothing first before sale prices
Again, with the mothers… -this mother in particular had a shopping companion who was giving her tips -the companion looked like she wanted to state her opinion then held back -mother originally went for the longer shorts than was persuaded to get the shorter shorts
Elderly shoe shopping, register in far background -It was interesting to see the elderly men shopping with their wives for shoes -the associates seemed to help the elderly faster than they did the younger customers
Wet Seal -love the font and logo of the company
Girl gets her own shirt? -Baffled me that the girl had to get the stick to find her own shirt -all the associates helping people at the front, not in the back
Register shot -register was fairly busy, there was loud music, and you could not find your way around the store, it was not really divided in an obvious way
Payless Shoes -decided to go in to search for business appropriate heels -looked like a ghost town
Register UNattended *Note: Why would you leave your register unattended with no sales associate in sight? -everyone in the store, associates and customers, were in the far back of the aisles
