  1. E-Tariff Technical Volunteers Status Update July 27, 2007 1

  2. June 4th Action Item • Call to Action: for volunteers to create a “Strawman” XML Schema based on the metadata elements identified under Option A by FERC • Purpose: To establish a starting point from which technical design discussions could begin • Expected Deliverable: An XML Schema document to serve as a strawman “starting point” for technical discussions • No long term solution is expected from this action item – only a strawman starting point! 2

  3. Progress Report • Group currently has representatives from Gas Pipelines, Electric Utilities, ISO/RTO’s and Software Vendors. Representation from the Oil Industry is desirable; Will solicit participation from AOPL. • Two XML schema proposals have been submitted for consideration as the e-tariff strawman XML schema: • Pipeline Segment Proposal • FERC Proposal • The two proposals are very similar but different enough to warrant a technical discussion • Kick-off conference call was held on July 19 • Review of 6/4 Action Item and establish common understanding of deliverable/scope • Recommendation to create a formal NAESB WGQ / WEQ eTariff Technical Subcommittee to complete development of the corresponding eTariff technical specifications to be included in the overall eTariff package • Discussed next steps 3

  4. Next Steps • Tech Team to hold a face to face meeting in Washington 3rd week of August (FERC hosting) • Agenda Items • Presentation of each strawman proposal by submitter • Begin development of a single “best of breed” strawman XML schema 4
