BASIC TRAITS OF A LECTURER • Eager for constant upgrading • Being ‘superhuman’ • No resting on laurels • Possess intense interest in teaching
FIRST MEETING WITH STUDENTS • A lecturer must introduce himself at the beginning of the semester • Establish bond • No more strangers • Make them feel at home

It appears that we have now come a full circle, government servants should no longer expect a second career when they retire except perhaps doing voluntary and charitable work. And what about respect? Only school teachers (and lecturers) seem to command eternal respect from their past pupils (students) even if the pupil (student) has become a prime minister.
