Overview • Project Background • Mission Statement • Customer Identification • PDS • House of Quality • Conclusion
Project Background • Design and deliver devices to study the ink transfer process of Xerox solid-ink printers
Project Background • Drop On Drum Vision System (DODVS) • Take images of ink-line formation on a solid-ink printer drum • Bench Top Microscope (BTM) • Take images of ink-line formation on the paper • Images are to be taken at same location so comparisons in the ink transfer process can be made
Mission Statement • The team will design and manufacture a new DODVS and BTM that meet the requirements of Xerox • Deliverables: • Completed assemblies • Detail drawings • Bill of materials • Detailed report of design process and analysis
Customer Identification • Primary External customer: Xerox Solid ink design and research team • Secondary External customer: Research students at PSU • Primary Internal customer: ME 492/493 • Secondary Internal customer: Our faculty advisor, Mark Weislogel.
Conclusion • Will not be used for consumer consumption or in a competition. • Rewarding because it will be used by students and researchers for advanced studies to better understand the physics of the ink transfer process in Xerox’s solid-ink printers
