  4. Who convened the first Rotary meeting – when, where and why? Attorney Paul P. Harris February 23, 1905 in Chicago Unity Building, Room 711 (restored room on 16th floor RI Building in Evanston) “Men” from various vocations who would rotate meetings at their offices Beginning of world’s 1st service club

  5. When and what was the first act of service? 1907 installation of city public toilets to improve sanitation in Chicago “In common with my fellow members, I had learned to place emphasis on the giving rather than the getting.” – Paul Harris
