Study of the Book of Job • Job 2:2-7 - The Attack of Personality – Who you are, how you are perceived. • Satan attempts to cause God to afflict Job, but God does not! – v. 5 • God’s chastisements are not to be equated to Satan’s afflictions. • God allows things to happen that He has the power to prevent from happening, whether we agree or not or like it or not! • “His thoughts are above our thoughts and His ways are above our ways…” Isaiah 55:8,9

Study of the book of Job • vv. 6, 7 - Satan causes Job’s affliction (boils) to look like the “punishment of disobedience” – One of the plagues brought on The Egyptians when Pharaoh refused to “let God’s people go”. • Vv. 8, 9 – Job’s 1st human personal challenge questions the very attribute that God commends him for – “integrity”

  4. Study of the book of Job • True Words but tough words – v. 10 • Since God is Sovereign, and we say that we now know what that means; can we still believe and accept that reality when it affects us personally.

  5. Study of the book of Job • vvs. 11-13 - Job’s 2nd personal human challenge – The public perception by others who know less about your situation than you!

  6. Study of the book of Job • Chapter 3 - Our emotional response is not always our best response. • That being said, it is impossible to go past our emotions and the decisions made by our emotions , especially when we are not getting any help from those close to us who say that they know God.
