Summer Ag Institute Presentations Teaching educators across the state about the many products we get from corn. While interning at the Illinois Corn Growers Association, I have completed a variety of tasks and projects including: Presented at over 14 Summer Ag Institutes around the state, traveling nearly 3,500 miles Presented activities to youth at various occasions put on by local Farm Bureau Young Leaders groups Blogged about the importance of teaching agricultural topics in the classroom Summer Ag Institutes provide teachers around the state with knowledge of agricultural topics to teach in the classroom.. As an Ag in the Classroom intern, my job was to teach about the corn industry as a whole, providing teachers with resources for their classrooms. I had a power point presentation that I used as a guide, but in reality, my presentations were usually self guided by questions educators asked throughout the presentation period. Mission: Educate teachers around the state about the importance of agriculture, most importantly corn. Ensuring all teachers left my presentation with a better understanding of the roles our corn industry plays in our daily lives. I would like to express thanks to all the staff at the Illinois Corn Growers Association. I have greatly appreciated all of the kind words and encouragement throughout the summer. Being out of office was a new experience, but I felt as if the whole staff knew me by name while in the office. I would also like to express thanks to all the Illinois Ag in the Classroom staff. They have been wonderful people to work with, and have helped me better understand my future career aspirations. I am thankful to have met each of them briefly this summer, and I hope to work with them in the future. Lastly, the teachers I have worked with through out the summer have been extra special. Each of them have made my experience exciting. I am thankful to know there are teachers around the state \willing to take Ag into the Classroom! Mail: P.O.
