Independent Reading • Each student is responsible for having their own reading book at their independent reading level • Focus on finishing the book within two weeks • Nightly Reading Homework • Mon-Thurs + one weekend day • August-December 15 pages/night • January-June 20 pages/night • Take AR quizzes after finishing book and aim for 80% or higher • www.arbookfind.com

  5. 3 Point Response • Write a complete sentence with a capital letter and a period. • Use words from the question in your answer. • Include evidence to support your answer. Example Question: What is your favorite color? Response: My favorite color is yellow because it is bright and cheerful.

  6. Making Every Minute Count • If you need to take your child out of school for an appointment, please make every effort to do so at the end of the day. • It is very helpful if you let me know if your child will be absent or leaving early so I may prepare work for them. • Students are responsible for missing work while they are absent

  7. Supplies • Thank you so much for your amazing generosity! So many supplies have been brought in so far! • Please help us keep the classroom as distraction-free as possible: • No large pencil boxes • No pencil sharpeners • No playthings (cute “tchotchkes”) • Check our Weekly Newsletters for any supplies needed throughout the year

  9. Report Cards, Grading, Awards • Grade Breakdown: • 90-100% 4 • 85-89% 3+ • 80-84% 3 • 75-79% 3- • 70-74% 2+ • 65-69% 2 • 60-64% 2- • 59% and below 1 • AAA • 75% of report card grades are “4’s” • EEE • All “E’s” on report card
