  7. TIME LINE FOR REGISTRATION

  8. Time line for Registration • February 21st -Middle schools were given placement test results. • Placement in core subjects is based on district mandated guidelines.

  9. Time line for Registration • Students can be recommended by their 8th grade teachers for AS English I and Geometry Enriched

  10. Timeline Continued • Course placement forms will be sent home for parent review. • Students will rank elective choices and return forms to Middle School. • Registration materials will be collected on March 13th.

  11. Time Line Continued • April 25th – letters sent home to families with log-in information and instructions • May 1st – May 15th – Parent portal in Infinite Campus opens for registration • Parents fill out registration documents and review course placements online • District office Tech department will be open for assistance.

  20. Graduation Requirements • Students must take and pass courses in specific subject areas in order to earn a high school diploma. • Students must earn a total of 220 credits in these specific subjects.

  21. College Requirements (“a – g”) • Courses required by UC and CSU to be eligible to apply for admission following high school graduation. • Students must earn a “C” or better in “a-g” courses.

  29. Graduation vs. Four Year College RequirementsPhysical Education Carlmont High School Four Year College • 2 Years • Freshmen must take PE 1. • Students must pass PFT or take PE 2 as a sophomore. • Dance and Weight Training are available for those students who pass the PFT • None

  30. Sports • Each sport is 3.5 credits • Sports count as elective credits • 3.5 credits of PE can be waived for each sport in 10th, 11th and 12th grade

  32. Career Technical Education CTE is a program of study that integrates core academic knowledge with technical & occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to postsecondary education & careers.

Band, Animation, Art 1, BioTechnology 1,2 &3,4; Choral I, II, Computer Applications I, Digital Photography, Engineering & Green Technology, Film Critique, Illustration, Jazz Band, Journalism, Adv Orchestra, Web Design. • The third level of a foreign language will also satisfy this requirement. • None

  34. CTE • Although some CTE courses may be listed in other subject areas, each class can only count for one requirement. • Ex. Art 1 = Fine Art Illustration = CTE

  35. Graduation vs. Four Year College RequirementsTESTING Carlmont High School Four Year College • California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) • Math and English • SAT or ACT

  36. Attendance Requirement • A student will not earn credit for a course if he or she has 18 absences and 3 or more of these absences are cuts. • Students will not be penalized for 18 cleared absences (ex. Health, school activities, etc) • Parents have up to five days to clear an absence.

  38. Fall Sports • Information on tryouts for Fall sports will be available on the Carlmont web site in mid May. • Clearance packets can be downloaded or picked up at Carlmont at this time. • August 1st is the first day clearance packets may be turned in.

  39. Summer Reading • Summer reading is required for all freshmen • Information will be distributed through middle schools • Information will also be available on the Carlmont web site in June.
