  1. Akhilesh Srivastava - Instrumental Person in IT-Enabled Projects The Technology is entering into unimaginable domains in the present world. Ranging from Roadways to Space exploration, technology is churning changes. If organizations turn a blind eye to the developing technologies, they may miss good chances of progress. But, in order to embrace technology, organizations should facilitate such culture. Fortunately, the Government of India is allowing its ministries and departments to explore and exploit latest technologies. It is also encouraging tech-savvy bureaucrats to come up with solutions to dragging problems. Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava, who has been leading the operations division of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), is known for his technology-based solutions. Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava, who is CGM of Highway operations and IT division in NHAI, has been instrumental in executing some of the note-worthy tech-led and tech-based projects. Some of the projects that are well-executed under his supervision are FASTag and RAMS. FASTag Toll collection system, which is also referred as Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system, can be said as one of the landmark projects in the history of roadways in India. FASTags are Unique Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags. Commuters can buy them from the authorized dealers and link their tags to bank accounts. They should be pasted to the vehicles’ windscreens to enable the RFID readers at Toll Plazas to detect vehicles and deduct Toll without human intervention. This system helps commuters reach their destinations seamlessly avoiding congestion at Toll Plazas. The Government of India (GoI) made it mandatory to have a FASTag for every vehicle purchased after November 2017. Apart from reducing congestion at Toll Plazas, this system is enabling the NHAI to fetch data pertaining to the traffic of national highways, which can be used for the future developmental works. Road Asset Management System (RAMS) project, which is first of its kind, aims at optimizing the data related to national highways. The NHAI has even made a pact with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and other space organizations to collect satellite data and make use of it in the RAMS project. Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava is one of the key personalities involved in this project. #RFIDTechnology #RAMS #Fastag #ETC #AkhileshSrivastava
