CMT State Trends Scores across the state generally better 6th year of administration of 4th Generation Test The state is still struggling with an achievement gap in a number of subgroups including gender, eligible for free/reduced lunch, ethnicity, ELL status, and special education A growing number of students are assessed using a Modified Assessment and Skills Checklist due to students’ Individual Education Plan

Next steps All teachers need to be aware of what standards are assessed on the CMT and CAPT All teachers need to understand the format of the testing Additional curriculum work needs to be done to better align district curriculum with state standards Instruction needs to provide students with meaningful and relevant experiences to allow them to practice the content and skills on which they will be assessed Teachers need time to drill down into the data to determine what specific areas are in need of improvement in order to change and improve curriculum and instruction
